The Sacramento State Film Studies Program (both minor and a special major are offered) emphasizes coursework and independent study in the areas of film appreciation, history, theory and criticism, and writing — all within the context of a liberal arts tradition. The Film Studies curriculum includes both lower and upper division classes offered by the departments of Art, Communication Studies, Design, English, Foreign Language, History, Humanities & Religious Studies, Sociology, and Theatre & Dance, and the Women Studies program. A Film Studies Committee supervises the Film Studies minor.
