Hometown: Ulan Bator, Mongolia
Major: Geography. Class of 2006.
Background: Born into a nomadic family in the Mongolian
countryside and raised in Mongolia’s capital city. Came to Sacramento
to learn English after studying computer science for a year at a Mongolian
university. Active in Sacramento’s small Mongolian immigrant community.
Highlight: “The best part of being here is what
I’m learning in my major—it’s priceless!”
Changes: “Personally and educationally I’ve
improved a lot since coming to Sac State. I’ve discovered myself—who
I am, what I like. I also see the value of my family. Distance affects
the connection we share and makes me realize how important they are.”
Destination: “After earning my bachelor’s
degree, I want to go for a master’s in international affairs. I’d
like to work for the United Nations in the area of development.”
