PROGRESS

Offering public-friendly campus retailing

Goal: Develop attractive food and merchandise facilities.

Progress:

  • University Enterprises, Inc. has partnered with Follett Higher Education Group to operate its bookstore and to enhance retail and service offerings in the bookstore, the University Union and the Alumni Center.
  • The Follett partnership was crucial to the development of the new three-story Hornet Bookstore, near the University Union. The new Bookstore opened in September 2007 and features expanded merchandise and tradebook sections as well as a coffee station.
  • In addition to its food outlets in the University Union and its Java City coffee outlets on the north end of campus and in Modoc Hall, University Enterprises, Inc. houses Kung Fu Fat's Asian Bistro and Marketplace, a Gordito Burrito Express (GBX), and a new Mediterranean restaurant in the Riverfront Center, a Saigon Bay sandwich shop near the Library and another Java City coffee outlet in the spacious Library entryway.
  • The new food outlets, bookstore services, and clustered seating arrangements throughout campus have created a much more social ambiance that encourages people to sit, relax and visit.
  • Campus OneCard convenience features were expanded to provide options for doing business including a variety of online transactions and the ability to use the card for services.
