PROGRESS
Planning
effectively and improving our infrastructure
Goal:
Update master plan as necessary.
Progress:
- As events have unfolded over the past few years—new construction, major gifts from University friends and new City of Sacramento transportation and urban development initiatives—we have been refining our master plan. Refinement will continue as new opportunities arise.
- We are implementing major infrastructure improvements. The revised master plan has focused attention on infrastructure, the University's ability to accommodate new buildings, more sophisticated technology and increased traffic on campus.
Goal: Pursue plan initiatives for 2010 and beyond.
Progress:
- The University has completed more than $35 million in upgrades to the telecommunications and utilities infrastructure in the past few years.
- A new 3,100-space parking facility at the south end of campus was completed in 2007.
- A new “hub” area has evolved around the new Hornet Bookstore, the University Union, the University Library, and the Academic Information Resource Center.
- Planning has begun on a Bus Rapid Transit system to transport students and visitors to various destinations on campus.
