Developing
residential options for students, faculty, and staff
Goal: Construct new suite-style suites on campus and increase student housing opportunities near campus.
Progress:
- Following extensive marketing studies, Sacramento State has begun development of on-campus student housing that will phase in 2,600 new beds. Phase I is under construction and will bring 610 new beds to campus in a four-story structure which includes interior and exterior courtyards, retail space, and smart conference rooms and support areas for academic support and conferences. In addition to new construction, existing residence halls will be upgraded. All new housing units will have state-of-the-art network technologies in all rooms. The University is building student housing to be sustainable structures with LEED certification.
- University Enterprises, Inc. worked with local developers to lease units for Sacramento State students at the new Upper Eastside Lofts. This additional housing option is now available for students. It is close to campus, providing access to campus classes and activities.
- University Enterprises, Inc. is partnering with local entities to develop a Regional Transit Village near campus that will provide housing, retail businesses and easy access to the region's light-rail system.
Goal: Develop affordable housing for faculty and staff.
Progress:
- Sacramento State
has purchased 25 acres one mile away from campus for development into
a University Village with 500 housing units for faculty and staff, retail
outlets and a daycare facility. Housing will be at below-market rates.
Resale will be controlled to keep housing prices continually at affordable
levels.
