COLLEGE READINESS
Following the EAP test, an official CSU notification letter will be mailed to students and their parents or guardians about the student's results on EAP. This should arrive at the beginning of each school year (after approximately August 15).

Read below for a description of each of the various status reports a student can receive. Please note: if a student failed to complete enough EAP questions to generate a score or did not volunteer to take either the math or English EAP questions, they will receive an Incomplete/Did Not Volunteer Status.

| READY FOR COLLEGE (Exempt): Congratulations! You have proven that you are ready for college level English. You are exempt from taking the CSU's Entry Level Mathematics (ELM) exam. |
| NOT READY FOR COLLEGE YET (Non-Exempt): You have not demonstrated sufficiently strong English skills to succeed in college level English. If you are accepted for admission to CSU, you must take the English Placement Test (EPT) unless you are exempt by way of SAT or ACT scores, etc. For more information about the EPT requirement and ways to meet it, please visit www.csuenglishsuccess.org |
READY FOR COLLEGE - CONDITIONAL (Conditionally Exempt): You are conditionally exempt from taking the CSU's Entry Level Mathematics (ELM) exam. You will be ready for college level math if you complete an approved math experience in your senior year of high school. Otherwise you will need to pass the ELM exam or score high enough on the SAT or ACT tests to become exempt. For more information please visit www.csumathsuccess.org |
INCOMPLETE/DID NOT VOLUNTEER: You did not complete enough of the multiple-choice questions to receive a score, you did not complete the essay, or you did not volunteer to take the EAP English. If you are accepted for admission to CSU, you must take the English Placement Test (EPT) unless you are exempt by way of SAT or ACT scores, etc. For more information about the EPT requirement and ways to meet it, please visit www.csuenglishsuccess.org |
