Information

<<Info for Parents Website>>

Information on this page was inspired by two Sacramento State employees who have experienced putting their own children through college. It is a culmination of their own experiences as well as their involvement with parents of new Sacramento State students who attend New Student Orientation. Whether you are a parent of a new freshman or transfer student, you'll want to check out these helpful websites to keep you up-to-date and informed about various campus services beneficial to your student.

FERPA

<<FERPA Website>>

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended (also sometimes referred to as the Buckley Amendment), is a federal law regarding the privacy of student records and the obligations of the institution, primarily in the areas of release of the records and the access provided to these records. Any educational institution that receives funds under any program administered by the U.S. Secretary of Education is bound by FERPA requirements. Institutions that fail to comply with FERPA may have funds administered by the Secretary of Education withheld.

Tips

<<Parents Website>>

As a parent of a soon-to-be college student, it is important to know about the programs and services each college offers. Here are some tips on how you can get to know Sac State better.

Student Financial Service

<<Student Financial Service Website>>

CASHNet SmartPay allows a student to create a PIN to allow parents to access their CASHNet SmartPay information. This feature eliminates the need to share your SacLink username and password information with your parents.
