The English Club provides an opportunity for English majors, minors, and enthusiasts to network and enjoy our love for English through guest lecturers, events, etc.
Sigma Tau Delta is the International English Honor Society with over 700 chapters located in Europe, the Caribbean, and the United States. Each Spring semester, eligible undergraduate English majors and classified English graduate students are invited to join.
Sigma Tau Delta membership "confers distinction for high achievement in English language and literature" and provides many other educational and professional opportunities. Members are encouraged to apply for annual scholarships and publication in Sigma Tau Delta's two journals, The Rectangle and The Sigma Tau Delta Review. Members are also invited to take part in community service activities and attend the annual convention for a chance to meet and network with other members.
Calaveras Station Literary Journal provides publication opportunities for all currently enrolled students writing short fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and critical analysis. Students work as editors and are involved in soliciting and evaluating submissions for possible publication. The journal in published annually, in conjunction with design students, each May. It is presented to the public at the release party at which time published students read their works. We work closely with the Collective Reading Series.
