Graduate Program Culminating Experience

The Kinesiology Department offers two forms of culminating experience: the Thesis or the Project. For both, the student is expected to evidence an advanced level of critical thinking, CSUS approved format, and precise documentation.

  • The Thesis is a written systematic study of a significant research problem. In the manuscript the student is expected to clearly identify the problem, state hypotheses, provide a critical review of relevant literature, describe procedures for data collection, collect data, provide results of statistical analysis of data, and discuss those results including practical implications and directions for future research. A five chapter format will be utilized.
  • The Project is a creative development of materials significant to the student's professional field. Examples include: curriculum development, program development manuals, and professional quality videotapes. In the manuscript the student is expected to clearly justify the significance of the project, provide a critical review of relevant literature, describe procedures/organization for development of the project design and provide a high quality product with practical use.
