Helen L. Welborn Memorial Scholarship

The Helen L. Welborn Memorial Scholarship exists to assist undergraduate students majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology. 

  • Award Amount: $500
  • Number of Awards: Multiple recipients may be selected.
  • Minimum GPA: 2.0 overall
  • Class Level: Undergraduate Sophomore, Junior or Senior
  • Financial Need: Yes (FAFSA form must be on file with Financial Aid)
  • Enrollment: Full-Time
  • Additional Requirements: NA
  • Application:  Once the application announcements have been posted, applications may be obtained on this website, on the Department SacCt or in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology. Applications should include a personal outline of applicable accomplishments, achievements, work experience, vocational & professional training, internships, certificates of proficiency, community service, hobbies and affiliations.  (Two pages maximum)
  • When to apply:  Applications may be submitted between 8:00 AM Monday April 22nd and 5:00 PM PST Tuesday April 23, 2013

Coleman-LaVanture Memorial Scholarship

The Coleman-LaVanture Memorial Scholarship was created to honor Uelva and Verion LaVanture and Clara and Robert Coleman by providing support for students in the Speech Pathology Graduate Program.

  • Award Amount: Up to $1,000 per award.
  • Number of Awards: Multiple recipients may be selected.
  • Minimum GPA: Good Academic Standing
  • Class Level: Classified (Clinical) Graduate
  • Financial Need: Yes (FAFSA form must be on file with Financial Aid)
  • Enrollment: Full-Time
  • Additional Requirements: Preference will be given to students who are the first in their family to attend an institution of higher learning.
  • Application:  Once the application announcements have been posted, applications may be obtained on this website, on the Department SacCt or in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology.  Applications must include personal outline of accomplishments, achievements, work experience, vocational & professional training, internships, certificates of proficiency, community service, hobbies and affiliations.  (Two pages maximum).

Speech Pathology & Audiology Alumni Scholarship

The Speech Pathology Alumni scholarship was created by gifts from alumni and faculty who wished to provide a perpetual scholarship for students pursuing a Masters degree in Speech Pathology. 

  • Award Amount: Variable, dependent upon available funds, up to $1,000 per award.
  • Number of Awards: Multiple recipients may be selected.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.5
  • Class Level: Classified (Clinical) Graduate
  • Financial Need: No
  • Enrollment: Full-Time
  • Additional Requirements: Demonstrated excellent clinical skills.
  • Application:  Once the application announcements have been posted, applications may be obtained on this website, on the Department SacCt or in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology.  Applications must include personal outline of accomplishments, achievements, work experience, vocational & professional training, internships, certificates of proficiency, community service, hobbies and affiliations.  (Two pages maximum).

Sutter Speech Language Pathology & Audiology Scholarship

  • Award Amount: To Be Determined (estimate ~$1,000 each award)
  • Number of Awards: 4
  • Minimum GPA: 2.8 overall GPA
  • Major: Speech Pathology and Audiology
  • Class Level: Classified Graduate
  • Enrollment Requirements: Full time at time of award
  • Financial Need Required: Yes. FAFSA form must be on file with Financial Aid.
  • Additional Requirements: Applicants must submit an essay addressing how you have personally overcome obstacles and challenges as you have worked towards your degree? The essay should address at least one of the following areas:
    • Low Income: Overcoming a disadvantaged economic background
    • First Generation: First in family to attend college
    • Environmental Background: Challenges such as immigrant, single parent families, etc.
    • Becoming bilingually fluent: Speaking or writing fluently with native speakers in a language other than English.
    • Veteran’s status
  • Note: Award recipients must submit a formal thank you letter to the Sutter Health Foundation, and provide a bio and picture to the Dean’s office for publication and attend an awards reception on April 2, 2013. Details will be provided following award notification.
