Helen L. Welborn Memorial Scholarship

The Helen L. Welborn Memorial Scholarship exists to assist undergraduate students majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology. 

  • Award Amount: $500
  • Number of Awards: Multiple recipients may be selected.
  • Minimum GPA: 2.0 overall
  • Class Level: Undergraduate Sophomore, Junior or Senior
  • Financial Need: Yes (FAFSA form must be on file with Financial Aid)
  • Enrollment: Full-Time
  • Additional Requirements: NA
  • Application:  Once the application announcements have been posted, applications may be obtained on this website, on the Department SacCt or in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology. Applications should include a personal outline of applicable accomplishments, achievements, work experience, vocational & professional training, internships, certificates of proficiency, community service, hobbies and affiliations.  (Two pages maximum)
  • When to apply: Applications for fall are typically due at the end of April prior to the effective semester (this is subject to change).

Coleman-LaVanture Memorial Scholarship

The Coleman-LaVanture Memorial Scholarship was created to honor Uelva and Verion LaVanture and Clara and Robert Coleman by providing support for students in the Speech Pathology Graduate Program.

  • Award Amount: Up to $1,000 per award.
  • Number of Awards: Multiple recipients may be selected.
  • Minimum GPA: Good Academic Standing
  • Class Level: Classified (Clinical) Graduate
  • Financial Need: Yes (FAFSA form must be on file with Financial Aid)
  • Enrollment: Full-Time
  • Additional Requirements: Preference will be given to students who are the first in their family to attend an institution of higher learning.

Speech Pathology & Audiology Alumni Scholarship

The Speech Pathology Alumni scholarship was created by gifts from alumni and faculty who wished to provide a perpetual scholarship for students pursuing a Masters degree in Speech Pathology. 

  • Award Amount: Variable, dependent upon available funds, up to $1,000 per award.
  • Number of Awards: Multiple recipients may be selected.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.5
  • Class Level: Classified (Clinical) Graduate
  • Financial Need: No
  • Enrollment: Full-Time
  • Additional Requirements: Demonstrated excellent clinical skills.
  • Application:  Once the application announcements have been posted, applications may be obtained on this website, on the Department SacCt or in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology.  Applications must include personal outline of accomplishments, achievements, work experience, vocational & professional training, internships, certificates of proficiency, community service, hobbies and affiliations.  (Two pages maximum).

Sutter Speech Language Pathology & Audiology Scholarship

  • Award Amount:Variable, dependent upon available funds, up to $1,000 per award.
  • Number of Awards: Multiple recipients may be selected.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.5
  • Class Level: Classified Graduate
  • Financial Need: No
  • Enrollment: Full-Time
  • Additional Requirements: To establish a strong link between The Sutter Health Scholars and the Sutter Health organization, scholars will, in writing or in person, present progress reports to the Sutter Health Foundation annually. Other criteria will include: 1. Special honors, recognition, or accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, leadership or community service; 2. Paid and unpaid work experience related to career goal; 3. Career plans after graduation; 4. Personal circumstances i.e., financial need, disadvantaged status; 5. Statement of values indicating commitment to caring, service, learning and leadership; 6. Demographics of scholarship recipients reflects the demographics of the greater Sacramento region community served by both the colleges and Sutter Health Sacramento Sierra Region. The counties are Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, and El Dorado.
