The History Department at Sacramento State
.... offers a full range of courses and degree programs.
The History major includes two tracks, one for the standard bachelor's degree and one for students interested in pursuing a career in secondary school teaching. The flexibility of the standard BA program allows students to focus on topical areas such as women's history, the history of particular geographic areas, cultural history, ethnic group history, military history, and history from the ancient world to history of the U.S. in the twentieth century. Teaching credential candidates must complete the Social Science Subject Matter Program with a major in either History or Social Science.
The History Department also has a vibrant master's program with several tracks including the Comprehensive and Specialized tracks, a History/Humanities Concentration, and the Public History Option. The History Department offers a joint PhD in Public History in cooperation with the University of California, Santa Barbara. Applications for admission are available at the UC Santa Barbara Department of History.
