Request for Firewall Exceptions
Information Resources & Technology has implemented a series of firewalls on campus. These firewalls, along with the server security guidelines and desktop management tools, help ensure that campus machines remain reliable and secure.
A firewall is an integral part of network security, and provides security by controlling information flows (network services) between specific systems. This includes restricting outside traffic to only authorized services and systems.
In order to function properly, all servers planning to provide network services should ensure that the necessary network services are supported by the existing network security architecture. Changes to the network security architecture should be raised as a firewall request.
