Skillport Down for Maintenance

In order to provide auxiliaries with access to Skillport, the University’s professional development, compliance training, and skills training service, IRT will perform an upgrade from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11, during which Skillport will be unavailable.

If you are not familiar with Skillport, you might want to check it out. Skillport provides both general online professional development classes and University-specific classes. Professional development content includes training on many desktop applications such as Excel and Adobe Photoshop, as well as more technical training. University-specific training will include online classes as well as the ability to sign up for on-campus, instructor-led training. To check out Skillport, go to My Sac State, log in and, from the home page, click on “Skillport,” which is found in the Employee Center window.

Mobile Registration Temporarily Unavailable

We are experiencing issues with Mobile registration.  Students cannot view, add, or drop classes through the Sac State Mobile app.  However, registration can be done as always using the Student Center in My Sac State.

SacCT Maintenance

SacCt is functioning normally.

On 1/20, from 6 AM until 1 PM SacCT we planned upgrades to improve performance and stability. These upgrades have taken longer than expected, but SacCT was brought back on line at 6:38 pm.

Scheduled Maintenance

Information Resources & Technology (IRT) needs to schedule maintenance prior to the beginning of spring term. On Tuesday, January 20, from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. we will be upgrading hardware to improve the performance of SacCT; we were not able to complete this task during the scheduled data center maintenance. We need to schedule extra maintenance now to help ensure the health and stability of SacCT this spring. Please plan accordingly.

 

We understand that downtime always creates some inconvenience, and we try to identify times that will be the least disruptive to our faculty, staff, and students. IRT’s winter break systems maintenance and downtime

IRT is planning a shutdown of the Sacramento State Data Center to perform essential yearly maintenance on key IT systems. The outage will affect most campus technology services. The planned period for this maintenance is 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, through 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11. There is no good time to shut down systems for maintenance, but we have worked in advance with all divisions to pick the lowest-usage times twice a year, once in summer and once during winter break, to do this work. We ask that you keep this downtime in mind when planning assignments or activities for Jan. 10 and 11.

Affected systems include but are not limited to:

  • Email
  • The Sac State website
  • My Sac State 
  • Student, Faculty and Employee Centers
  • SacCT
  • SacVault (data warehouse)
  • Internet and wireless access
  • NetApp file services (N:, P: & U: drives)
  • VMware infrastructure and virtual servers

Intermittent Problems with My Sac State

Sacramento State users are reporting problems accessing the Student Center, Faculty Center and CMS HR/SA applications.  This problem appears to be intermittent.  The issue has been escalated to the CSU Chancellor's Office.  If you are unable to access the system, you may want to consider using a different browser as an attempt at a workaround.  Otherwise, please try again later.

Campus Wireless Access

Wireless access is unavailable throughout the campus.  Our network support team is working to fix this issue.

SacCT Intermittent Availability

Student Center Slowdown Fixed

The Student Center experienced a slowdown.  The process causing the slowdown was stopped, and the Student Center is running normally.  If you experience further problems, please contact the Service Desk at 278-7337.

The SacCT working normally

A problem with a new piece of software within SacCT (Blackboard) caused outages yesterday in several CSU’s, including Sacramento State.  Students and Faculty using Blackboard were impacted several times during the day and evening.  The problem has now been fixed, and we do not expect further outages.

The specific problem was a Blackboard building block (Plugin) that uses a Blackboard cloud service.  The building block has been disabled until Blackboard has fixed the problem.

All users of SacCT were impacted from 4:30 to 9:30 PM.
