What is the Renaissance Society?
"I don't believe in aging at all. Aging is a losing concept. Our group believes in learning and staying alive and active and teaching."— Robert Heilman, 82, a retired CSUS social work professor who helped found the Renaissance Society in 1986
We are Sacramento–area retirees who want to learn about new topics, meet new people and have a lot of fun.
It is participatory. That means we members come up with the ideas for all the seminars and we coordinate them. Most of us are not professional teachers, but we are enthusiastic about Learning in Retirement. The list of seminars is limited only by the imagination of our members.
We members run not only the seminars, but everything that keeps Renaissance going! And we need members' help. Find out ways you can participate in keeping Renaissance great.
Membership is open to all seniors who wish to engage in participatory learning. No college degree is required for membership—just the wisdom that comes with experience and the curiosity that sustains interest in learning.
The annual membership fee covers seminars during the year; an optional fee provides a campus parking permit good on Fridays. For $5 paid to the library, you are granted campus library privileges for the school year.
