A Context for Assessment
The importance of higher education in Sacramento and indeed in all of American life is hard to overstate. What and how well students are learning in our universities has consequences for families, communities, industries, corporations, public service, and the list goes on.
Assessing student learning has a number of dimensions that make it both interesting and challenging. Among these dimensions are the politics of assessment, assessment theory, and assessment practices.
The purpose for this page is to catalog materials and resources of interest within each of these dimensions. Note that some of these materials focus on assessment in the K-12 system as well as higher education; the contents of these materials may need modification to fit within the context of assessment and higher education.
