The Space Planning Policy is authorized by ABA 08-01, dated January 1, 2008, and can be found in the University Policy Manual.
University programs that require a change or addition to program or instructional space, should contact the Director of Space Management at (916) 278-6507 prior to proceeding with the project or completion of the Space Allocation/Change Request Form (DOC).
The Director of Space Management will initially review requests for physical, functional, or capacity space changes. If the request may have impact with EO 565, the request will proceed to the Space Planning Advisory Group (SPAG) for review and recommendation to the Vice President for Administration.
Requests for physical, functional, or capacity space changes are usually forwarded to the Director of Space Management from Facilities Services or Information Resources & Technology. Space Management may contact the requester directly to request information concerning the project. Customers shall not proceed with a space or instructional furniture change project or fund purchases until after the space impact of the project has been reviewed by the Director of Space Management and possibly SPAG, and space approval to proceed is confirmed.
Space Management is also responsible for the instructional classroom furniture inventory and will review all instructional furniture change requests and determine how to proceed.

To reserve instructional rooms or outdoor spaces for a construction, renovation, or instructional furniture project or for routine maintenance, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please identify the building and room or outdoor space, the start and end dates for the space hold, and a brief description of the project or maintenance. The space change requester may be asked to provide additional project information. Note: Requests to hold rooms/space for summer should be submitted to Space Management prior to February 1st and for winter prior to October 1st to avoid potential scheduling conflicts.
