What makes you most proud of the work you do?

I believe in treating people the way I want to be treated. I take pride in my ability to equitably resolve conflict. People need to be heard. Though I may not agree with a perception, I do feel it is only fair to validate my customers through listening and addressing their concerns.

What makes you proud to be a member of the Sac State community?

I take pride in the diversity that Destination 2010 has brought to our campus. Through the increased community outreach, new building construction and improved customer service, we will continue to grow and attract people from all social orientations. I am proud to be a part of this University and to be associated with the great events hosted at Sacramento State, such as the September 17, 2003 California Governor Debate and the 2004 Summer Olympic Track & Field Trials.

In a word, how would you describe Sac State ?

Prosperous

What is your idea of a welcoming campus?

I believe there are several aspects to a welcoming campus, campus appearance being the first. Second, customer service - "Does the University value me as a customer purchasing an education?" Service is a big factor. It ranges from the building of the Events Center , quality faculty and friendly staff to maintaining parking lot lighting.

Of all the upcoming plans for Sac State , what is the most important to you?

All three are extremely important, but if I had to choose one, it would be service. Building new facilities and community outreach are both attributes of a prosperous University. You can build a beautiful home and invite the neighbors to your party. However, it will not be the house they will talk about for years to come, but the hospitality they received.

What do think will have the most impact in the future?

Diversity and community outreach will be determining factors in the success of Sacramento State . The University must forge alliances with elementary, middle and high schools, and the junior colleges; we must form partnerships with community service organizations. The success of Sacramento State is dependent upon its service to the diverse communities of California .
