Sac State Named Tree Campus USA
"In October, the Arbor Day Foundation named Sacramento State a Tree Campus USA.
The University achieved the designation by meeting Tree Campus USA’s five requirements: a tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance, and the sponsorship of student service-learning projects." Read More

Solar Project Powers Up
"Sacramento State is taking its latest energy conservation efforts to the roof. Over the next few weeks, solar panels are being installed on the roofs of the Library and The WELL, as part of the University’s Photovoltaic (PV) Electricity Generation Project, which is estimated to generate around 700,000 annual kilowatt-hours (kWh) of solar electricity for the campus." Classrooms Get a Facelift
"Clean, functional and well-lit facilities are fundamental to a successful teaching and learning environment. With this philosophy in mind, Facilities Services zone managers set out in the spring to assess the condition of campus buildings. Based on a standard set of criteria, some 175 classrooms were slated for upgrades beginning in May. The revitalization, to be completed by mid-August, will be a welcoming greeting for new and returning students." Read More
ABA Congratulates New Staff Graduates
"Administration & Business Affairs counts close to 60 Sacramento State graduates working in the division, or almost 20 percent of its workforce. The numbers increase every year, as more and more staff professionals earn degrees. This year, ABA adds four more Sac State grads to its employee ranks. ABA Supports Clean Air Events
"May is Clean Air Month, and Sacramento State hosted the 36th Annual Breathe California Clean Air Awards Luncheon in the University Union Ballroom on May 18. This is the third year Breathe California has chosen Sac State as the site for its event. Earlier in the month, UTAPS hosted Sac State Bike Day in the Library Quad, in conjunction with the Sacramento Transportation Management Association." Read More
ABA Speaker Series with Dale Carlsen
"On March 15, ABA welcomed Dale Carlsen, CEO of Sleep Train Mattress Centers as part of ABA's Speaker Series. The Speaker Series brings community leaders to Sac State to share knowledge in their fields of business or expertise. As a proud alumni of Sac State, earning a degree in Real Estate, Finance and Insurance in 1984, Mr. Carlsen spoke of some valuable words he received from his father. Building Bridges, Zone by Zone
"In January, Facilities Services adopted a new approach to service delivery with the launch of the Zone Manager program. The program augments the department’s Customer Service function by placing managers with comprehensive knowledge of facilities operations out among the campus community. Four managers have been assigned to distinct zones and located on the central campus for greater access to customers and their zones, which is hoped to personalize services and create greater accountability." Campus Buildings Get Smart
"The University’s Smart Grid project is off to a running start, with the installation of new heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) controls in Capistrano Hall, which kicked off Phase I in the fall. The Smart Grid will provide 80 smart meters (one or more) for every building on campus. The meters will record the consumption of electric energy and then communicate the information back to central energy information software, helping to identify poor performing buildings." Read More
ABA Welcomes New Police Chief
"Sacramento State's newly appointed Police Chief Mark M. Iwasa assumed his post as chief and director of Public Safety in January, just as the campus reopened after the holiday break. Iwasa, former County of Sacramento County undersheriff, brings over 25 years of skills and experience to the position." Read More
Ticket Office on the Move
"Sac State's Ticket Office is on the move. March 5, ABA’s newest charge pairs up with Athletics ticketing at a new location in the recently renovated Athletics Center, the facility that housed the Student Health Center before its move to the WELL. The centralization of Athletics ticketing and the Ticket Office will create internal efficiencies and markedly improve convenience for the campus community and the public." Read More
ABA Supports UFL Mountain Lions
"In October 2011, the Sacramento Mountain Lions held their 2011 season opener at the Sac State Alex G. Spanos Sports and Recreation Complex. Being the home game season opener following a successful 2010 season, ABA and others supporting the event were prepared to provide a seamless experience for the team and fans. Being the only California United Football League team, expectations were high. Just about all of ABA's departments are involved in event preparation, working with other campus entities to ensure success." Read More
