In 2006, Sacramento State received a certificate of recognition for leadership in the promotion of firearm safety, through a partnership with Project ChildSafe and the U.S. Department of Justice. |
As a partner, the University Police Department participates in the promotion of firearms safety education to gun owners through the distribution of free safety materials and voluntary gun-locking devices.
Through its efforts, the department has contributed to building safer homes in our community and helping to prevent tragic firearm-related accidents, particularly those involving children. Project ChildSafe has distributed more than 30 million firearm safety kits free of charge to gun owners in over 14,000 communities in 50 states and the U.S. Territories.
