UTAPS Supports Bike to Work Day

Bike to Work Day 2007/08

May is Bike Month in the Sacramento Area, and May 21 is Bike to Work Day. Each year, University Transportation Services (UTAPS) helps to support this important clean air event by coordinating Sac State Bike Day.

The 2009 campus event includes coupons for free pizza from Round Table, located in the University Union, for students, faculty, and staff who bike to campus.

Other incentives include on-the-spot bicycle chain lube, bike assessment and giveaways such as, water bottles, patch kits, lights and fenders from ASI Peak Adventures. These activities take place in the Library Quad.

To support biking as an alternative mode of transportation to campus, UTAPS staffs a free bicycle parking compound at the foot of the Guy West Bridge, and additional bicycle racks are located throughout the campus. UTAPS Hornet Express shuttles and Sacramento Regional Transit buses are equipped with bike racks to make the commute even easier.

UTAPS also provides information on bike routes, bike maps, bike safety tips, California Vehicle Code bicycle law and other important information regarding Commute Choices to campus. For more information regarding Sac State Bike Day or Commute Choices, please contact Noel Carolipio, Sac State Employee Transportation Coordinator at ncarolip@saclink.csus.edu or 278-7527
