First Year Experience

FYE is a consortium of campus-wide programs that are administered by representatives from both Academic Affairs and Student Affairs.  The Director of First Year Experience (faculty) and the Coordinator of First Year Experience (student affairs professional) oversee first year seminars and university learning communities.
Peer Mentors are an integral part of the FYE program, serving as academic advisors, program planners, and liaisons between first-time college students and faculty. The Coordinator of First Year Experience recruits, selects and trains peer mentors who are partnered with faculty in first year seminars and learning communities.
The Director of First Year Experience administers the faculty development for the program, which occurs twice a year, in August and January. A committee of faculty work together with the Coordinator of FYE Curriculum development.
FYE constituents work with the Community Engagement Center for co-curricular activities, including the One Book program, and Writing Partners program.
