Why are you proud to be a Hornet?
I am proud to be a Hornet, because our campus is incredible. I do realize that many people say, "Diversity! Professors! The WELL!" But personally, the reason I chose over Sac State over several other universities was the campus. As soon as I stepped foot onto campus, I knew. I love the trees. I love how clean campus is. I love that we recently added bike paths. I am in love with our campus. When I get to school, I feel at peace.

I definitely admire my mom because not only did she come to the United States and learn how to speak English at a very young age, she also raised three children and worked a full time job. I know it's very cliche to say that I admire my mom, but she's my best friend and she has dealt with a lot. She has always supported me in what I wanted to do, including me moving to Sacramento to get my college degree. So, I admire my mom, because she's done a lot for us and I want to be like her someday.

What advice would you give to first year students?
The first year of college will feel like everything is worth nothing and that you would want to drop everything you've done no matter all of the effort you have put forth. I understand that college may have been an option that was made right after high school and the transition will be hard but I'm telling you now, just keep going. All of the mistakes that you are making now are all useful and beneficial. When you feel alone, we as peer mentors will always be here for you every step of the way.

What is your favorite quote?
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Who do you admire (professionally and/or personally) and why?
I admire my mother because she sacrificed so much for her family and her future family to have a better future. She started from the bottom, came over here by a boat filled with over 100 people that could not really fit that many people for over 6 months. She started with little to no money with 2 over her siblings, and got to where she is now in life.
What is your favorite activity to participate in at Sac State and why?
My favorite activity to participate in at Sac State is Phlaegleblast because it is when the entire Union is decorated in a theme like fashion and you get to run around and get free things.

What is your favorite quote?
"All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night, in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find, that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. This I did" – T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia)

My ultimate dream job is to become a Nurse Practitioner in Dermatology. I would also love to work with premature babies in the NICU. I would also enjoy being a nurse in a hospital like Shriners that caters to children with long term medical conditions.
Why are you proud to be a Hornet?
I am proud to be a Hornet because it is such a diverse campus with friendly faces. In every course I have been in I have met students who want to lift each other up to be the best student they can be. I have also met professors who love the course they teach and put that passion into their students. The Hornet campus radiates nothing but success.

Who do you admire (professionally and/or personally) and why?
I admire my brother Douglas. For about five years or so, he has been dealing with major depression with schizophrenic episodes and it is amazing to see how he is so open-minded to the thought of being well again. Some people take mental illnesses and believe it is a weakness and there is no way out but when Douglas is having a good day where he is not feeling so down, his thoughts on his future is extraordinary.
What has been your favorite class at Sac State and why?
My favorite class at Sacramento State has to be my Psychology 2 - introduction to psychology class. I'm not sure why but there is something exciting about evaluating people in their different environments and what behaviors arise from what. It amazes me because no one ever has the same reaction.
