Welcome to Sac State!

New Student Orientation at Sac State is your first opportunity to get acquainted with the university. It is also our first chance to welcome you in person, with all the warmth and enthusiasm a letter of acceptance simply cannot convey.
During Orientation we will not only help prepare you for your first day of classes but we will also help you begin your journey toward graduation. You’ll meet fellow students, meet with a faculty member from your major, and register for your classes. You will also have the chance to participate in workshops, learn about extracurricular activities, and hear what students, faculty, and staff have to say about your opportunities as a Sac State student and future alum. Attending New Student Orientation is your first step in ensuring success at Sac State.
Orientation occurs two times each year: summer for students entering the fall semester and winter for students entering the spring semester. Orientation is highly recommended for transfer students. First-time freshmen are required to attend Orientation.
