Foreign Language Graduation Requirements

Students who have met foreign language admission requirement:

  • Take 3 units of intermediate college level coursework beyond first year courses in the language used for admission.
or
  • Take 7 units of first year college level coursework in a language different from the admissions language
  • Pass a proficiency test in reading or writing and one other skill: speaking, or listening, at an intermediate level
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading at the advanced level.

Students who have not met the CSU foreign language admission requirement must complete:

  • The first year of college level foreign language coursework with a C- or greater or demonstrate equivalency.
  • Take 3 units of college foreign language coursework beyond the first year college level.

AND

  • Pass a proficiency test in reading or writing and one other skill: speaking, or listening, at an intermediate level.

OR

  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading at the advanced level.
