Assignment of "C" Grades in Graduate Programs

No grade below a C (2.0 grade points per unit) may be counted towards a graduate degree. At the master's level, no grade below "B (3.0 grade points per unit)" may be counted toward a degree unless expressly permitted by a campus-approved graduate programs’ written policies. At the doctoral level, no grade below "B (3.0 grade points per unit)" may be counted toward a degree program. (Note: It is expected that this language would be inserted into the eligibility criteria for advancement to candidacy that are listed in the graduate studies section of the catalog and in other forms distributed by the Office of Graduate Studies, including but not limited to the Advancement to Candidacy petition.)
