Freshman Advising Program
Freshman Advising
Freshman Advising is a three-phase program that helps to establish students’ knowledge of degree requirements, confidence in choosing a major and skills to choose appropriate classes and utilize campus resources. Freshman Advising serves all students who do not have an advising requirement from their major department, academic support program, or athletic program. If you are not sure where to go for advising, please visit Academic Advising in Lassen Hall 1012.
Phase 1 : Orientation provides an opportunity to connect with students, faculty and staff. General Education (GE) advising and course selection assistance is provided while considering your abilities, interests, and goals.
Phase 2: First semester at Sac State, students are scheduled to meet with an advisor associated with their Freshman Seminar, Learning Community, or in the Academic Advising Center. Advisors assist with GE, course planning, choosing a major/minor, and referrals to additional campus resources.
Phase 3: Second semester at Sac State, students are scheduled to meet with an advisor in one of the Academic Advising locations. Advisors will follow-up regarding first semester progress and assist with long-term planning so you can make the most of your time at Sacramento State.
