SUBSTANTIVE PROGRAM CHANGES Single Subject Teaching Credential Program Justification: 3+ years of experience with our SB 2042 Program indicates that two types of changes need to be made to our Single Subject Credential Program:
Multiple Subject Teaching Credential Program Justification: 3+ years of experience with our SB 2042 Program indicates that students need more course-related fieldwork experience in our Multiple Subject Credential Program. Thus, units are being shifted from student teaching to two courses to provide more fieldwork experiences related to specific course content. In addition, a new course has been developed to provide students with instructional support as they complete the new state requirement for a Teaching Performance Assessment. This course is patterned after an already existing course in our Single Subject Credential Program that has proven to be very successful. SUBSTANTIVE PROGRAM CHANGE Educational Specialist Credential Program: Multiple Subject Justification: CHANGE: The Teaching Credential Program: Multiple Subject will be dropping one course (EDS 216) requirement. This action is in response to community feedback, student surveys, and as a reaction to mandated CCTC Standards for the Mild/Moderate Educational Specialist Credential. Additionally, in response to the above constituents and standards, the lecture/lab paradigm is being applied to several methodology classes (EDS 101A/B, 273A/B, 276A/B & 292A/B). The format of these courses will have a theoretical framework (A) and a field based/lab application (B). Finally, in response to the above constituents, an existing options class (EDS 276A/B) will become part of the required coursework for the Mild/Moderate Educational Specialist Credential and one unit will be added to the initial EDS 232 seminar.
