Participate in a Faculty Learning Community on Universal Design for Learning!

Are you dedicated to providing high quality, equal access to all of your students? We are seeking five faculty to join a Sacramento State Faculty Learning Community (FLC) on Universal Design for Learning. Apply to be part of a Faculty Learning Community on Universal Design and receive over $1,000 in faculty development funds!
This learning opportunity will focus on developing faculty expertise in applying the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to course materials and activities to enhance the teaching and learning process. The initial training will introduce you to the principles of UDL. In subsequent meetings you will have an opportunity to work collaboratively in a Faculty Learning Community to develop and implement UDL principles in your courses.
Professional resource staff from the Accessible Technology Initiative, Center for Teaching and Learning, Academic Technology & Creative Services, Services to Students with Disabilities, and elsewhere will be available to help you. This faculty learning community project is made possible through a federally funded grant entitled Ensuring Access through Collaboration &Technology ~ Partnerships, Technology & Dissemination (EnACT~PTD) and it is intended to promote success of all students including students with disabilities on our campus and sister campuses of the CSU.
Compensation
Funding from the U.S. Department of Education allows us to offer faculty development funds to each FLC participant. Remuneration will be provided to faculty after they successfully participate in and complete all project activities.
Responsibilities
Universal Design for Learning is a process of making course concepts and skills accessible to all students regardless of learning styles, physical or sensory abilities. You will contribute to the project by learning or developing your understanding of the basic principles of UDL. As a member of this FLC, you will participate in a monthly meeting of the learning community. Your FLC will be facilitated by a faculty leader who will support group members in making course changes that apply UDL principles. Your FLC will also be supported by the Instructional Materials Accessibility Specialist and other campus staff with expertise in accessibility and design of learning. Your final product will document how you implemented the principles of UDL in at least one course for the Fall 2010 term; you will also complete project related evaluation surveys.
