Elections Complaint Committee: Elections Code (Article IX. A)

Authority and Jurisdiction: The Elections Complaint Committee shall have original jurisdiction to hear and rule on all complaints of violations of this Elections Code. Complaints may only be filed by individuals against individuals. Each individual candidate is accountable for following the Election rules and regulations. The only complaint regarding collective candidates (e.g. “slates”) that will be heard are regarding the following: #1 combining of financial resources or #2 placement of more than one name on promotional materials. Complaints would be filed by an individual against an individual who violated one or both of these policies. Of those collective candidates (e.g. “slates”) formed, only the specific individuals who violate campaign policy are subject to disciplinary action, not the entire collective.

Appointment and Terms of Committee Members: The Committee shall consist of three (3) student members appointed by the VPSA after consultation with the ASI President in accordance with the ASI Bylaws. The Committee shall also include one faculty member recommended by the Faculty Senate and the Vice President for Student Affairs, or designee, shall serve as Chair of the Committee.  Committee members are appointed for a one-year term.  Student members appointed to the Committee may not be current members of the ASI Board, unless selected by the Committee for quorum purposes, per Election Code Article IX, Section C.

The Elections Complaint Committee must be fully constituted by the end of the third week of the Spring Semester and in no event later than seven (7) calendar days prior to the first day of filing in any Election.

A quorum of the Committee shall exist if a majority of the members of the Committee are present and eligible to vote.
