Program Change Proposals - Undergraduate:

College of Engineering and Computer Science

Department of Mechanical Engineering, B.S.:  Reduce the total required units in the ME curriculum from 140 to 137 by:

College of Health and Human Services

Department of Criminal Justice, B.S.:  This is the second in a series of changes recommended by program review to simplify the major. Changes include revising and reducing the number of required lower division units from 15 to 12 and revising and changing the number of required upper division units from 21 to 24. There is no overall change in required units.

Department of Health Science, B.S.:  Overall changes to the Health Science Program were made in response to a recent program review. Reduces total units required in major to 67-70 and total units for BS to 120 by reducing and revising the required courses in the lower division, upper division and concentration areas. It also deletes the Health Science Single Subject Waiver Program Concentration.

Department of Kinesiology and Health Science, New Minor in Occupational Health and Safety:  The minor in Occupational Health and Safety is a new proposal.  The curriculum provides individuals with the basic skills, knowledge, and competencies to assist in the development and maintenance of an effective occupational safety program.  Changes within the safety and health regulatory environment have placed management personnel at risk of criminal prosecution for failing to maintain a safe work environment.  With employers' facing increased Workers' Compensation and employee injury severity costs, a student with a minor in Occupational Health and Safety can provide leadership and support in achieving the organization's performance goals.

College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies

Department of Family & Consumer Sciences-Subject Matter Program (concentration), B.A.:  Changes proposed to meet new standards for the subject matter program in home economics. The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing adopted new standards for the subject matter program in home economics in 1996; these standards were published in 1999. The department believes the new standards are best met by making minor modifications in the specific course requirements. Increase the total units to 58-59 (a one-unit increase).

Program Change Proposal - Graduate:

College of Business Administration

Business Administration, Master:  The following changes are made to the MBA program. Number of units remains the same.
