PROGRAM REVIEW PILOT STUDY EXTENSION

The Faculty Senate approves extension of the Program Review Pilot Study for one more year, in order to include the 2011-2012 review cycle.

The Faculty Senate further requests that the Program Review Oversight Committee (PROC) complete the assessment project of the pilot study by the middle of Fall 2011, and provide recommendations to the Faculty Senate by the end of the Fall 2011 semester for any subsequent long-term policy revision. This will ensure that any necessary new policy will be in effect for the 2012-2013 review cycle.

Background: The Program Review Pilot Study was originally approved by the Faculty Senate in May, 2007 (FS 07/49/CPC/Ex. http://www.csus.edu/acse/archive/0607/07fsm_may_17.htm). The second (2008-2009) review cycle is nearing completion and PROC will soon have two full cycles to consider for purposes of assessing the Pilot Study. An extension to the Pilot Study is needed to allow for completion of the assessment and continuation of the current program review requirements while any policy recommendations arising from the Pilot Study assessment are considered by the Faculty Senate. The memo from Jeffrey Brodd, Chair of the PROC, to the Curriculum Policies Committee, is attached as Attachment A.

Carried unanimously.
