      Ms. Sandra Schlemmer
      President Associated Students Incorporated

FROM: Donald R. Gerth, President

On Wednesday of last week, the Board of Trustees of the California State University accepted the Cornerstones report and endorsed it as a planning framework. Chancellor-Elect Charles Reed has indicated to CSU campus presidents that he and the Board of Trustees will expect regular reports on compus progress in implementing the Cornerstones Planning Framework.

Given the importance of this planning framework for CSUS, I am asking Provost Jolene Koester to chair a University Task Force charged with the implementation of the Cornerstones principles. Specifically, I Ask that the Task Force:

  1. Examine the Cornerstones planning principles to propose a set of priorities for the implementation of the principles at CSUS;
  2. Develop a work plan for the implementation of the principles, including timelines;
  3. Establish, as appropriate, subcommittees necessary to consider specific recommendations with Cornerstones; and,
  4. Make regular reports to me and the campus community on the use of the Cornerstones Planning Framework.
