ABA EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION/AWARDS PROGRAM

OPERATING RULES

PURPOSE

The purpose of the ABA Employee Recognition/Awards Program is to recognize individual and group employee efforts that further the mission and long-term goals of Administration and Business Affairs, or otherwise exemplify its core values, in order to build a sense of community and purpose within ABA. The ABA Recognition/Awards Program is not related to the university wide Performance Based Salary Increase program, and has no bearing on the award of salary increases.

COMMITTEE

The ABA Recognition/Awards Committee will be comprised of five (5) members who are the prior year award recipients. If it does not occur naturally, an attempt will be made to assure that all ABA departments/units are represented -- Facilities Management, Financial Services, Management Services and Support Services on the committee.. A chair will be elected annually and will be responsible for collecting nominating materials and calling meetings.

OPERATION

Operating rules may be amended as necessary with approval from both the ABA Quality Steering Council and the Vice President for Administration. Nominations will be solicited from the University community annually using the official nomination form. The committee will review nominations within one month of the solicitation, rank them by award category and forward the top-ranked nominations in each category (up to three maximum) to the Vice President for Administration for final selection. Awards will be presented to recipients annually. Plaques will be ordered for presentation to the award winners at an annual division wide event. All nominated employees will be acknowledged.

ELIGIBILITY

All levels of personnel will be eligible to receive awards, except the senior managers of the ABA departments. Individual employees who nominate themselves will not be considered for award.  The promotion of a nominee to others, or "campaigning" is discouraged.  Winners will be ineligible for additional awards for two years following receipt of award.
