Frequently Asked Questions About Our Tours for Prospective Students and Families
Q: Is a reservation required?
A: Yes. You will need to select the time and date you plan to visit.
Q: Does my family get our own private tour guide?
A: Possibly! We allow up to 30 people on a tour, so you may be with other families.
Q: What does the tour include?
A: The tour includes the grounds of the campus, the Student Union and The WELL, along with information about the services, activities, programs, and educational opportunities available to students. Tours of the Residence Halls are available (and optional) 15 minutes after the conclusion of all registered campus tours.
Q: What does the tour not include?
A: The tour does not include the opportunity to sit in on a lecture, academic department presentation or student panels. However, these options might be available by contacting the specific departments you are interested in.
Q: How long is the tour?
A: The tour is a one-hour walking tour.
Q: Is a tour given if it is raining?
A: Yes. We give tours rain, shine, hail and thunder.
Q: Where does the tour start?
A: In the Admissions Welcome Center, Lassen Hall, room 1100. Your tour guide will open the room 10 minutes before the tour starts.
Q: How early should I arrive?
A: We recommend getting to campus 30 minutes before your confirmed tour time to allow time to purchase a parking pass, find parking and Lassen Hall.
Q: Do I need to pay for parking?
A: Yes. Parking permits are required while visiting the campus. Daily permits are $6 and 2-hour permits are $3. Permits are valid only in student lots. Permits can be puchased in two ways:
At the yellow daily parking permit machine in Lot 1 in front of the Athletic Center (permit machines accept credit/debit cards or cash - $1 or $5 bills, silver coins)
Through "PayByPhone" options: (Sacramento State Location #5115)
Paybyphone.com (you must sign up with Paybyphone and create a free profile to continue with the online transaction)
Q: Where should I park?
A: Parking Lot 1 is the closest to Lassen Hall, but fills up quickly. Your next best option is Lot 11 at the north end of campus or Parking Structure I. A purchased parking permit allows you to park in any student lot (do not park in faculty/staff areas).
