As the unit Commander, I see our cadets prove it daily.
AFROTC Detachment 88 is located at California State University
's Sacramento campus, but we support Air Force officer
candidates from 11 cross-town schools in Northern California
. Our purpose is to produce outstanding leaders for the
world's premier air and space power, the United States
Air Force.
My cadre and staff are dedicated to teaching, mentoring,
and helping each individual student who enters our program
to grow in maturity, responsibility, and leadership.
These are the people who will be defending our nation
and way of life in the future; we take their education
and mentoring seriously. However, there are many opportunities
for having fun, and I understand our cadre are still
undefeated in ultimate Frisbee … I hope this trend
continues.
We are a quickly growing Detachment, organized like an
active duty Air Force wing, with solid cadet leadership.
Our current cadet leaders entered the Detachment three
to four years ago, and today serve in positions of authority
and leadership in the training of our first and second
year students.
I hope that as you navigate this web site you will appreciate
the service and dedication of these highly motivated
young people. Take a look at their activities, their
community service projects, the awards and scholarships
they are earning, and their drive to achieve that coveted
gold bar of an Air Force Second Lieutenant. I am sure
you will be thoroughly impressed and very confident,
as am I, that the United States Air Force will be in
good hands in the years to come.
Please visit this site often for the latest information
on AFROTC opportunities, and contact us if you have questions.
If you are interested in a life of challenge, purpose
and service, give us a call … we'll help you get
there.
Lt. Col James L. Hawkins
Commander, Detachment 88
