The ROTC Program

Academic and Leadership studies form the foundation of the AFROTC program and work in conjunction to give cadets a well rounded experience. Academic classes focus on learning about professionalism and leadership in the Air Force while the Leadership Laboratory gives cadets the opportunity to put these newly learned skills into practice.

The ROTC program supplements a student’s university experience by providing him or her additional opportunities for individual growth. All in all, ROTC is a great addition to college life.

Leadership Studies

Leadership is the foundation for success in any organization, and the Air Force is no exception. The ROTC program includes a Leadership Laboratory (LLAB) that is conducted for two hours each week. This laboratory is designed to give cadets hands on experience in various leadership situations.

  • IMT (Initial Military Training)
  • FTP (Field Training Preparation)
  • ICL (Initial Cadet Leader)
  • SCL (Senior Cadet Leader)

Each class focuses on unique skills. First year cadets, usually designated as IMT cadets, are instructed in basic and necessary followership skills. Second year cadets, or FTPs, begin preparation for Field Training. Upon successful completion of Field Training, ICL cadets take on new leadership roles within the cadet corps. Senior Cadet Leaders provide the highest level of leadership and oversight in cadet activities.
