The Alumni Association, open to all alumni and friends of the University, was founded on July 20, 1950 to encourage alumni involvement with their alma mater and to support the campus community.
Board of Directors
Governed by a 29-member Board of Directors, the Association offers its members various opportunities to volunteer and participate in social and fundraising activities.
One of the best ways to volunteer is to serve on a committee. The Alumni Association has five current committees including: Chapters & Alumni Development; Membership & Fund Development; Scholarship; Finance and Nominating.
The Alumni Association provides members with the opportunity to network with fellow Hornets who share professional or social interests through chapters including: Art; ASI; Black Alumni; Business Alumni; Communication Studies; Construction Management; Criminal Justice; Engineering & Computer Science; English; Football/Spirit; Hong Kong; Hornets Policy & Politics; Latino; Men's Basketball & Friends; Nursing; Recreation, Parks & Tourism Administration; Speech Pathology & Audiology; Urban Collective; and Veterans/ROTC.
Events are another way the Alumni Association keeps alumni active in the life of the University. Annual events include Alumni Month every April, the Causeway Classic, Homecoming, Grad Fest and the Prestigious Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony. Members of the Alumni Association also support students through donations to the Alumni Scholarship Fund. Each year 12-15 scholarships ranging from $1,000-$2,000 are awarded to deserving Sacramento State students.
Student Alumni Association
Current students are encouraged to join the Student Alumni Association (SAA). The student-based organization strives to help students forge a lifelong connection to their alma mater through engaging students with alumni.
Leslie and Anita Harper Alumni Center
Maintained and operated by the Alumni Association, the Harper Alumni Center is an outstanding venue that may be rented by the general public for meetings, conferences, weddings, receptions and other social events. It truly provides a “home” on campus for alumni and a place for activities that help alumni strengthen ties to the students, the campus, and the community. Alumni Association members receive a 10 percent discount on room rental fees.
