Department of Anthropology Academic Achievement Award
The Academic Achievement Award recognizes the graduating Anthropology Major who has the best overall performance as a student.  The Awardee will also be nominated for the College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies Dean’s Academic Honors Award.

The student receiving this award will be presented with a Certificate of Recognition and a cash award funded by Archaeological Research Center, Department of Anthropology, CSUS.

Criteria:
Applicant must have a minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.5.

Requirement:  1) a letter of application; and 
2) Applicant must submit a 2 to 3 page long biographical statement.  Herein, the applicant must discuss her/his academic achievements and future goals.  Applicant must also discuss how s/he used the knowledge gained in order to contribute to the larger community.

Application Deadline
The application package for this award must be addressed to the Chair, Department of Anthropology, CSUS.  The package should be received by the department office no later than March 7.



John W. Connor Scholarship
The John W. Connor Scholarship is awarded by the Department of Anthropology, in consort with Dr. John W. Connor, to a graduating Anthropology Major with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average. Student must have graduated with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average for the academic year. The student receiving this award will be presented with a Certificate of Recognition and a cash award funded by the John W. Connor Endowment Fund.

Criteria:
Applicant must be enrolled as a full time student in all but the final semester where the student may be enrolled less than full time.
Applicant must have a minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.5.

Student eligible for the award will be identified and contacted by the Department of Anthropology

Richard Reeve Award
Instituted in memory of Professor Richard Reeve, the first chair of the Department of Anthropology,CSUS, this award recognizes a graduating Anthropology Major for his/her contributions to furthering the discipline of anthropology.

The student receiving this award will be presented with a Certificate of Recognition and a cash award funded by the Department of Anthropology, CSUS.

Criteria:           
Student must have a Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or more.  
Student must have participated in discipline based extracurricular activities

Requirement:  1) a letter of application; and 2) Applicant must submit a 250 word long statement discussing her/his participation in extracurricular activities and how that contributes to furthering the discipline of anthropology.

Application Deadline
The application package for this award must be addressed to the Chair, Department of Anthropology, CSUS.  The package should be received by the department office no later than the close of office hours on the first Monday after Spring Break.

 

George Rich Graduate Scholarship 
Instituted in memory of Professor George Rich, this award recognizes the potential contribution by graduate students to the field of Cultural and/or Linguistic Anthropology

The student receiving this award will be presented with a Certificate of Recognition and a cash award funded by the George Rich Memorial Fund

Criteria
Student must be working on a Master’s Degree in Anthropology in the sub-disciplines of cultural or linguistic anthropology. Applicant must have earned an “A” in Anth 205 and Anth 207. Minimum overall GPA of 3.8 as a graduate student. Student must be advanced to candidacy during the current academic year.

Requirement:  1) a letter of application; and 2) applicant must submit a 500 word long Statement of Research explaining her/his topic of research and its significance to the discipline.
