Michael Schmidt, Asian Studies Graduate, at the One World 2013 Celebration

On Monday, April 29, alumnus Michael Schmidt spoke at the One World Initiative's student symposium. The event celebrated the first successful year of the One World Initiative, which explored the theme "Global Perspectives on Water" across the campus.
Myanmar in Transition: Lessons on Reform and Democracy from Across the Region

Asian Studies Spring 2013 Symposium
The topic of the Asian Studies 2013 symposium was "Cultural Reflections: Tradition & Modernity in Asia." The keynote speaker was Dr. Gi-Wook Shin, Director of the Asian-Pacific Research Center at Stanford University.

Dr. Grace Bacaltos Lectures on Davao Gulf Resources
Dr. Bacaltos gave a lecture on "Our Gulf is Our Life: Protecting Marine Resources in Davao, Philippines" on March 12. 2013. Davao Gulf, Philippines is one of the major fishing grounds of the country as well as one of the most diverse marine ecosystems in the world. Dr. Bacaltos discussed protection and management initiatives for the gulf, including the topics of overexploitation of coral reefs, sedimentation, accumulation of waste, and harmful fishing methods.
