Our Gulf is Our Life: Protecting Marine Resources in Davao, Philippines

Davao Gulf, Philippines is one of the major fishing grounds of the country as well as one of the most diverse marine ecosystems in the world. Dr. Della Grace Bacaltos will discuss protection and management initiatives for the gulf, including the topics of overexploitation of coral reefs, sedimentation, accumulation of waste, and harmful fishing methods. Dr. Bacaltos holds a Ph.D. in Marine Science and is currently a professor at Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology. See the flyer here.

This lecture and panel discussion, hosted by the World Affairs Council and the Asian Studies Program, will explore Myanmar's democratic transition.

Anthropology  134, Japanese Culture and Society

ANTH 134 has been added to the schedule for the Spring 2013 semester. Taught by Dr. SturtzSreetharan, it will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday, 12:00 - 1:15 pm.

Balinese Gamelan Class

In Spring 2013 the Music Department will offer a Balinese Gamelan ensemble class with percussion instructor Daniel Kennedy on Mondays, 7:00 - 8:00 pm.
