ATCS Announces 2nd Hinderstein-Freund Service Award WinnerAbhay Kankariya, a graduate student in Electrical and Electronic Engineering has been named the 2009 recipient of the Hinderstein-Freund Award for Excellence in Service to Distributed Education. Kankariya, a native of Pune, India is recognized for his support of the Sac State eLearning program through his integral role in Electronic Distribution Master Control Services area. Abhay’s duties encompass not only day to day operations, but also supervision of several student assistants and acting as a liaison with the Sacramento Educational Cable Consortium. The Hinderstein-Freund Award was established in 2008 to recognize the vision and contributions of Allan Hinderstein and Spencer Freund in developing and advancing Distance and Distributed Education at Sac State. Distance and Distributed Education Instructor and Student Feedback Analysis Report ReleasedDuring spring 2006 the Office of Distance and Distributed Education (DDE) surveyed students and instructors enrolled in, or teaching courses in, the distance education environment. The purpose was to cast light on how distance education at Sacramento State is going for students and instructors. The Office of Distance and Distributed Education was also interested in finding out ways to improve its services. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected and analyzed at the conclusion of the spring semester. The results of these DDE Faculty and Student Surveys have been summarized in a report by Dr. Terry Underwood, Teacher Education.
