Best Practices

Did you know that Flashlight 2 offers collaboration tools? As a survey author, you can permit other folks using Flashlight to access and author your surveys. Additionally, you can:

  • - use templates prepared by colleagues or administrators
  • - use materials prepared by the TLT Group or other subscribing institutions
  • - create multi-institution surveys

For information about survey collaboration at Sac State, see the onlinesurveys FAQs page, or send a message to onlinesurveys@csus.edu .

Sample survey containing all survey question types, with the exception of the rubric type question. The use of multiple survey pages is also demonstrated in this example. Available at http://tinyurl.com/r2olh9 .

sample survey - matrix capability

Matrix Capability

One of the functions of a Matrix survey (see TLT Group's Matrix survey page for a description) is to "inject" text specific to a group of survey respondents into the text of a survey, thus tailoring one survey for more than one group. In this example, ATCS's Workshop Evaluation survey, the survey is tailored to include the workshop title and the name of the instructor. Notice how this survey link, Workshop Eval 1, delivered to participants in a SacCT workshop, differs from this one for a workshop on Microsoft Word, Workshop Eval 2. Both link to the same survey, but are delivered via different respondent pools (respondent pool definition), thus enabling this capability.
