A browser plug-in is a computer application that interacts with a Web browser (such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari) to perform a specific function, such as viewing a video file.
The following is a short list of commonly used browser plug-ins that you may need to download and install on your computer to view certain types of files on the Sacramento State websites, including SacCT. All links in this section open the webpage in a new window.
Adobe Reader Download: The reader enables you to view, print and search Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files.
Java Download: Run "applets" which are small applications designed with Sun's Java.
Microsoft Excel Viewer: Open, view, and print Excel workbooks, without having Excel installed on your computer.
Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, PowerPoint 2007 File Formats: Open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations in the new file formats for Microsoft Office 2007 while using Office 2000 or Office 2003.

Open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations in the new file formats for Microsoft Office 2007 (Windows) or Office 2008 for Mac while using Office 2004 for Mac.
Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 2007: View presentations created in PowerPoint 97 and later versions without having PowerPoint installed on your computer.
Microsoft Word Viewer: View, print and copy Word documents without having Word installed on your computer.
Flash Player Download: View multimedia applications and animations designed with Flash.
QuickTime Download Listen to music or view video files, such as a video file created in the QuickTime video format (.mov).
RealPlayer Download Listen to music or view video files created with RealMedia. Be sure to get the FREE RealPlayer.
