TRAINING

The Academic Technology and Creative Services Unit is dedicated to assisting and empowering Sac State faculty and staff in the effective and appropriate use of technology in support of the University. Training is a key function of the unit, both as a stand alone service and integrated into all aspects of our work. Recognizing the wide spectrum of tools and resources available and in use, we strive to provide a variety of activities to meet the professional and personal development needs of our clients. Training options include:

• Individualized /one-on-one assistance 
  ATCS professional staff are available to provide advice on online course development processes, tools and resources, developing learning materials, techniques for using technology in the teaching/learning process, and many other related areas. These services can be accessed on a drop-in basis at ARC 3005, by phone (916) 278-3370, via e-mail atcs@csus.edu, or by contacting an individual staff person directly.

• Workshops
  ATCS offers a comprehensive schedule of training workshops in support of a variety of hardware tools, software applications and course design techniques. Most workshops follow a discussion format and offer an opportunity to practice and test new tools and skills.  Workshop descriptions, current schedule and online registration are available at http://www.csus.edu/training.

• “Quick-Take” technology brown bag discussions
  Hosted by the ATCS Academic & Information Technology Team, these informal lunchtime discussions are designed as a forum for Sac State faculty to share and explore new features and innovative resources in online technology.

• TUT Institute Program
  ATCS provides technical and creative staff expertise in support of the Teaching using Technology (TuT) summer institute program. A project of the Sac State Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), TuT aims to help faculty familiarize themselves with technology-enhanced teaching methods and tools, and connects faculty with ATCS staff to assist them in developing their technology-enabled projects.
