Video Streamed

Video streaming technology allows viewing of a video-based course or module over the computer in lieu of watching it on television or recording it on a VCR.

All Sacramento State, video-based DDE courses are streamed live as well as archived in WebCT to facilitate personal scheduling for accessing courses.  However, the course instructor must determine if a student is eligible to view a course via streaming based on the student’s personal circumstances. As a study aid, all students in video-based courses have access to archived lectures.

In order to view video streamed courses originating in the Sacramento State DDE program, students must have a current version of the RealOne played installed on their computer, and a high-speed connection to the Internet (cable modem or DSL) in strongly recommended in order having the best experience in viewing the course.

Video Conferencing

In addition to being cable televised and video streamed, some Sac State courses may also be delivered through videoconferencing.  With special videoconferencing equipment at both the origination and receiving sites. students and instructors at one site can view and interact synchronously with students and instructors from other sites.  Videoconference origination sites can be in a studio classroom, a meeting room or even on a laptop or desktop computer, all supporting  numerous multimedia applications.
