Welcome to S.A.L.S.

What is S.A.L.S. and what is its purpose?

S.A.L.S. is the Student Associations of Laboratory Scientists. Its purpose is to provide members with helpful information regarding careers in the laboratory sciences. S.A.L.S. and its guest speakers provide information on graduate school programs, job offerings, internships, resume writing, interview skills, as well as both general and specific information about different fields of study and employment. Its main goal is to prepare its members for their continuing education and their employment search in the laboratory fields.

What are the goals for S.A.L.S. ?

To host guest speakers who will share their knowledge and insight about their professions or areas of expertise/study; to tour off-campus laboratories, to develop an employer and job opportunity database; to provide workshops which give practical skills in the job seeking process; to host a conference with its parent organization NCSAM on campus for anyone who is interested in the chosen topic; and, to provide a forum to exchange news and ideas.

How can I stay up to date on S.A.L.S. events and news?

Check out the website www.csus.edu/org/sals for meetings, events, and job postings. Also look for flyers in the Science and Biology buildings, in general, and on the 2 nd floor message board in Humboldt (Biology building) across from room 221, specifically. In addition, you can join the LisProc account to receive S.A.L.S. e-mail messages, announcements, and job postings.

How do I subscribe to the S.A.L.S. ListProc?

Open your e-mail and create a new message

  1. In the “to” line, type listproc@csus.edu
  2. Leave the subject line blank and type the following 2 lines of text in the message area (with your own names in the indicated positions, *case sensitive)
    1. Subscribe SALS-L Firstname Lastname
    2. End
  3. Send message
  4. Caveat: When you receive a message, do not reply to it or else everyone on the list will receive your reply, unless that is your intent. If you want the individual that sent the original message to receive your reply, cut and paste the originator’s e-mail address into a newly composed (or forwarded) message.
