Guests dance at last year's Green and Gold Gala

Carol Channing, world-renowned icon of musical theatre, will be the guest of honor at Sacramento State’s fourth annual Green and Gold Gala, 5:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 20, in the University Union Ballroom. The event honors Sacramento State supporters and the University’s successes.

Channing will be the night’s featured speaker. The actress and singer, who received an honorary doctorate from the California State University in 2004, established a scholarship fund for Sacramento State’s performing arts students last April.

The Gala will also highlight the University’s Troops to College program which provides scholarships and enhanced support services to help veterans obtain a college education. The University has more than 1,000 students who are eligible for the program.

The Green and Gold Gala will be emceed by CBS News 10’s Cristina Mendonsa and KFBK’s Kitty O’Neal, both Sacramento State alums. The event includes a reception, dinner and dancing.

Event costs are covered through sponsorship contributions. Confirmed sponsors include 5 Star Bank, Holly Tiche, Sysco, VSP, Airco, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, Nouvelle Roux, and Fiddyment Farms. Other major sponsors will be recognized at the event.

Tickets are $200 per person. Sacramento State faculty and staff tickets are available for $150. Proceeds from the Gala will support the Troops to College program.
