Sac State offers financial aid workshops for students
Sacramento State’s Financial Aid Office will hold four free workshops in February to help students and their parents complete the 2010/2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The FAFSA is used to help students apply for a variety of financial aid for academic studies such as Federal Pell Grants, Stafford Loans and work study.
Feb. 17, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Feb. 18, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Feb. 24, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Feb. 25, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Workshops will be held in Mendocino Hall Room 2007. Students should bring:
- Social Security Card for students and parents
- Driver’s license
- Federal income tax return or W-2 or wage statement for 2009
- Untaxed income records
- Veteran’s benefits and Social Security benefits for 2009
- Bank account and investment records for 2009
- Alien registration card if not a U.S. citizen
In addition to completing the FAFSA, the student must complete the GPA verification form to apply for a Cal Grant.
Sacramento State's priority filing deadline is March 2 for consideration of maximum financial aid. Students can still file a FAFSA after March 2, but it must be processed before the last day of the semester of enrollment or June 30, whichever is earlier.
Married students should bring copies of their spouse’s information, and dependent students need to bring copies of their parents’ information.
Sac State’s Beta Alpha Psi VITA site will provide free tax preparation for students who meet certain eligibility requirements ahead of the FAFSA deadline.
Tax services are available in Mendocino Hall, room 2007, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Feb 9, 16 and 23 and March 2, 9, 16 and 23. For more information contact email@example.com.
