Alumni scholarship lends a helping hand to future graduates
Sacramento State graduates are helping the next generation of Sacramento State students by contributing to the Sacramento State Alumni Association’s scholarship program.
“These scholarships were created out of the desire to assist superior students to attend our University,” says Jennifer Barber, executive director of Alumni Relations. “The hope is that the recipient will contribute to the success of the University and will graduate to be a productive member of society and an active Alumni Association member.”
Initially funded by donations from life members of the Sacramento State Alumni Association, the scholarships are now broadly supported with the goal of helping students pursue higher education at Sacramento State.
Scholarships are awarded in three categories: Freshman, Continuing Undergraduate and Graduate, and range in value from $1,000 to $2,000.
Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or better and be enrolled or accepted to attend Sacramento State. Applications are reviewed by a selection committee of alumni and are rated on the several factors including the candidate’s ability to achieve academic success, demonstrated leadership and service to school and community.
Applications for the scholarship are now being accepted and must be received by the Alumni Association or postmarked by Monday, March 2. Scholarship winners will be notified before May 1.
Instructions and the application can be found online at http://www.sacstatealumni.com/. For more information about the Sacramento State Alumni Association Scholarship Program or how to support the program call the Alumni Association at 278-6295 or email alumni@csus.edu.
