Robert E. Humphrey, Communication Studies, book Once Upon a Time in War: The 99th Infantry Division in WWII will be published by the University of Oklahoma Press. Based largely on interviews with more than 350 members of the division, his narrative history traces the experiences of a unit that trained in Texas, was nearly overrun in the Battle of the Bulge, crossed the Rhine River on the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen and ended the war in Southern Bavaria.
Gale Justin, Philosophy, will present “Being” in the final argument against knowledge as perception in the “Theaetetus” for the west coast workshop on Plato’s Theaetetus, at UC Davis in May.
Robert Halseth, Music, served as a clinician for Saratoga High School’s three bands last month. He also guest conducted the Sonoma County High School Honor Band in Sebastopol and the Tulare-Kings County High School Honor Band in Porterville. This month, Halseth will conduct the California All-State High School Symphonic Band at Fresno’s Saroyan Theater at the annual meeting of the California Band Directors Association.
Student Spotlight
Maria Xiong, Communication Studies, has been cited as the Best Matayom Teacher at Chitralada Palace School in Bangkok, Thailand. Xioing is one of four Sacramento State students serving as English teaching assistants at the school. Sacramento State students have been in Thailand since May 2007, and will return to campus in April.
